An invitation from Rabbi Jane Rachel Litman:

Please join Coastside Jewish Community and the congregation of St. Edmunds for a weekend of interfaith dialogue and worship.

On Friday evening CJC will meet at St. Edmunds for our Kabbalat Shabbat service. The members of St. Edmunds will be our guests. Their pastor, Reverend Joe Holt, will speak on the story of Balaam and Balak from the Book of Numbers. I am also delighted to welcome Cantor Carol Delton as our guest cantor for the evening. Cantor Carol is a candidate for the position of our High Holy Day cantor.

Sunday morning, the congregation of St. Edmunds invites us to their regular worship service at which they have invited me to speak. I will talk about the commonalities and differences between Judaism and Christianity.

Reverend Joe and I are good friends, and we’d like our congregations to continue to build their relationship. We hope to greet you at one of these two services.

As an added bonus, we hope that you will come to hear our prospective High Holy Days cantor, Carol Delton on Friday night. Cantor Delton was trained in traditional nusach and chazzanut with Cantor Israel Reich, and in contemporary cantorial repertoire with Cantor Steven Richards. She’s led chavurah-style services jointly with Berkeley Hillel and Beyt Chesed. She has served a range of cantorial pulpits including conservative and reform congregations, as well as community-based services and life-cycle events that included participants from many different backgrounds.
