Social / Cultural Gatherings

Home > Future Events, Past Events > Social / Cultural Gatherings

The Cultural/Social group provides opportunities to get together with fellow CJC members to have fun, do some interesting things, and enjoy yummy food. Through it all, and most importantly, we are building community and friendships.

Up Next:

October 28, 7pm, Laura & Sam’s house

“What did you do last summer?”  A home based gathering to give us all a chance to catch up with each other’s summer travels. Here’s a sample – while traveling in Spain, I saw this marker for the destroyed synagogue in the medieval Spanish town, Besalú. Of course, I saw a lot more cathedrals than synagogues.  Even spent a night in a monastery.

Bring your stories, snacks* & beverages to share.

RSVP to Laura

*Vegetarian not required, but keep it “Kosher Style” – no pork, shellfish etc. Any foods containing meat, poultry or fish will be placed on a separate table.

Saturday, December 2:  Attend Coastal Repertory’s production of Coney Island Christmas. If you’d like to join us, please purchase your tickets directly from CRT, and let Laura know so you can be kept informed about our dinner plans.

Here’s a review in The J, “When a Jewish girl plays Jesus, you get Coney Island Christmas” about another production of this play.

Let Laura know if you’d like to help organize or host an event, or if you’d like to be on the group’s email list.

Other ideas we discussed at our first gathering (you can pretty much assume all these events will include eating):

  •  Get together at someone’s home and share our stories
  •  Go to a show in San Francisco
  •  Go to a Berkeley Rep show
  •  Camping in the Sierras
  •  Wine tasting in the Santa Cruz mountains…..hire a driver
  •  Go to a museum
  •  Movie night at members’ homes
  •  Soirée at Linda Bea & Philip’s home to see pictures and collections from their six years in China.
