High Holy Days

High Holy Days for the Jewish New Year 2023 / 5784 are complete.

In addition to the sweet apples and honey served on Rosh Hashanah, there was plenty of “food for thought” and “nourishment for the soul” to be had at our High Holy Day observances.

Deep gratitude to everyone who helped create meaningful experiences for us all. We had excellent attendance and many wonderful comments afterwards. Here is one:

“Thank you so much for making the High Holidays so meaningful for me and my family. I haven’t been to services that many times during one High Holiday season in years and I’m so glad I was there… I loved how you organized the group aliyahs during RH and YK. The way they focused on honoring the community rather than individuals was very powerful. Overall it was just a great experience.” – Monica Spitzer

A new treat was included in services this year, the CJC New Year’s Chorus.

Information from 2023

Please remember, registration is required – whether you are a CJC member, family member, friend or guest. In-person and virtual details will only be sent to registrants.

Some notes about “Give Butter”, the platform through which you’ll register:

  • If you don’t want to be listed publicly as having registered, be sure to check “Hide my name or amount from public view” on the Final Details page.
  • When done, you’ll need to close the entire window – there’s no way to just close the pop-up window. You should at that point have an email with the information.

The following are suggested donations for non-members, however we will never turn anyone away because of inability to donate.

  • Free for all CJC Members
  • Suggested donations for non-members:
    • Adults: $100 per holiday
    • Seniors, Students, Youth: $50 per holiday
  • Family Services: Free

For more information, email us, or call (650) 479-5252.

Potlucks provide a great opportunity to visit with each other and eat delicious foods!

At the end of Yom Kippur we’ll have a ‘break the fast’ potluck. Bring your vegetarian & dairy dishes with you to services – they can be stored in the kitchen or your car.
